The problem
A US-based insurance firm operating across multiple teams and time zones needed an unreasonable amount of effort to answer a simple question: who is working on what, right now? Senior managers navigated dense, manually maintained spreadsheets updated inconsistently across departments. By the time data reached leadership, it was already hours out of date.
The solution
Minus designed and deployed a conversational operations intelligence system — managers ask a question in plain English and get a precise answer drawn straight from live operational data. No dashboards to configure. No analyst to involve. Just a question and an answer.
Results
- 48 hours from brief to a working system in managers’ hands
- ~80% reduction in ops reporting time
- <5s response time to any workforce query
- 1-day onboarding for any new manager — zero training required
Under the hood
Live schema resolution · Permissions enforced pre-query · Read-only by design
The hard part isn’t understanding the question — it’s being right. Every answer resolves against the live schema rather than a cached extract, and access rules are applied before the query runs rather than filtered out of the results afterwards. Where a question can’t be answered accurately, the system says so instead of returning a confident guess.
